Buck Rogers in the 26th Century Episode 214x "A Judgment of Hell" Written by: Erin Weinstock I don't hold any of the copyrights in this story, and this story was made without profit. Teaser: ext: Maihgo: The camera moves through a thick cloud of pollution towards to high tech looking city. V.O. Tech One: "I'm not getting any output readings on this monitor." The pollution thins out as we descend into the city still pushing towards a place unseen. V.O. Tech Two: "Did Karr redesign the mathematics correctly?" Moving through the cityscape we now see the building the camera has been on its journey towards. Circle shaped and hardly towering into the air at only twenty feet above the ground. As the camera pushes forward still... V.O. Tech One: "I think so." Cut to: int: Lab: A very high tech looking area with at first glance a large deep pool with no sign of its bottom in the center of the room. Five Humdos are busy at workstations ringing the pool. The one Humdos, the sixth one of the room is just staring blankly at the computer screen before him; his name is "Kerr-Fi". None of these Humdos look as we'd normally think a Humdos should look. These Humdos have frog-like faces with small eyes and wide mouths. Six inflatable air sacks to either side of a foot and a half long neck. These Humdos could also be said to have bodies like upright, long limbed salamanders. Tech Two goes to Tech One's station and after a beat of looking at Tech One's computer screen, Tech Two: "The network connection must have disappeared again, Naly those input jacks." Tech One leaving his station: "I'll fix it." Tech Two stopping Tech One from stepping out of his reach: "No." Tech Two looking to Kerr-Fi, Cont: "You haven't been looking very well the last few hours, maybe you should reconnect the input jack?" The camera moves on to Karr-Fi. Karr-Fi: "I am fine, [ beat ] no thank you." Tech One takes a deep breath in filling the air sacks underneath his neck and jumps down into the pool of water and swims into the depths out of sight. Cut to: int: Computer Interface Grid: Tech One swims ever deeper into this area filled with water with no bottom in sight. The walls are rounded with the shape visible from the surface. Imagine a complex computer, its back plate of interfaces meant for input and output jacks, connecting wires and ribbons, small'n large, thick'n thin. Lights have been instated every few feet and so whoever comes down here can see fully what they're doing in their task. The camera tracks the Tech's dive, then after a beat... Tech One has found his destination on the interface and now the dive is over as he moves in to greet the wall that we can see has two thick output wires disconnected from their ports of use. The Tech connects both wires in their ports to create the needed interface. He loses the air out of one of his lowermost sacks out of the side of his mouth as this is done. Satisfied with a job well done, Tech One swims up out of the camera's view. The computer screen before Karr-Fi is coated in alien text. Note this is the only thing we see until... The camera cuts on to Karr-Fi who slumps back and down into his chair at the sight of the computer's monitor. Tech Two: "Your monitor back up again, Karr-Fi?" Karr-Fi does nothing to react to the question just posed to him as Tech Two now makes his way over to Karr-Fi. Tech One emerges from the pool containing the Computer Interface Grid, releasing the air left from four filled sacks. Tech Two smiles looking at Karr-Fi's computer monitor. Tech Two: "Come here take a look at this! This is it! The results from the controlled contamination tests! It worked!" Tech One rushes over to see what the two other Humdoses are looking at. Tech One, now grinning from "ear" to "ear" at the sight of the computer: "The mutations can be controlled to achieve health welding results!" Both Techs shake Karr-Fi in excitement to give a show of congratulations. Tech Two: "Your tests have saved us from extinction, Karr-Fi! You've paved a path for us to control making variations in our genes for life-saving results!" Tech One: "Let's celebrate! Karr-Fi, now that you've saved our species from the destruction, our own past oversight put upon it, what do you want to do next!?" After a beat, Karr-Fi (weakly): "A trip to the desert plains in the east." Tech Two (confused): "Are you sure?" Karr-Fi: "I'd like nothing better." Pre-Credits: End of teaser: Beginning of Act One: ext: Space: A Defense Directorate shuttle flies swiftly away from Earth. V.O. Koori: "I'm nervous, Hawk." Cut to: int: Shuttle: Buck is sitting at the flight controls with a slight grin on his face. Hawk and Koori are together but only Koori is taking an interest in what's going on around her. Hawk's interest though is on Koori. Hawk: "I was at first too but embracing this galaxy with all it has to offer, Koori, will be the greatest experience you'll ever have." Koori moves to the front window to take in the view of space and peering at a space unseen to us. Koori: "What's that?" As she now points outwards from her at the unseen point. Cut to: ext: Space: The shuttle is approaching Star-Port One which now has been fully rebuilt. V.O. Buck: "It's a Star-Port, nothing to worry about. It helps us move across great distances in mere moments instead of weeks, months or years." V.O. Koori: "Why would I worry about such a thing like that? I'm the Commander of the whole Protective Military." V.O. Hawk: "It was strange to him at first I'm told, you can understand." After a beat, V.O. Operator: "Star-Port One to Defense Directorate shuttle, how much weight are you bearing?" V.O. Buck: "Three adults with no cargo but one two pound carry on." V.O. Operator: "You are cleared for departure, Captain Rogers." The Star-Port flares into life with its colorful bolts of energy and opens its newly formed entrance to the micro-par stream. The shuttle flies onward into the stream and out of view. Cut to: ext: Maihgo: A hovercraft speeds across wilderness that's semitropical. Looking at the hovercraft at who's inside it, are Karr-Fi and the Techs we last saw him with. Both Techs look ecstatic but Karr-Fi looks non-plussed. Tech One: "Look at that, Karr, untapped wilderness, more interesting than the Scorching desert eh?" Karr-Fi: "I have no interest in the forests [ beat ] and whatever might lie inside it." Tech Two: "No spirit of adventure?" Karr-Fi: "How soon till we've reached the plains?" The camera cuts in on the hovercraft so we can see its occupants better. Tech Two: "What's the rush?" Tech One: "Do you have protechint with you for this, Karr?" Karr-Fi: "How soon?" Tech One looking at Karr-Fi with concern, Cont: "Very soon." Cut to: ext: Desert: Karr-Fi is walking down a sand dune away from the hovercraft still containing his peers who stare at him with questioning eyes. Tech Two: "Karr-Fi?" Karr-Fi turns to face them, stopping in his tracks. Karr-Fi: "I want to be alone, is that too much to ask?" After a beat, Tech One: "When do you want us to come back for you?" Karr-Fi: "Four hours." Tech One: "Are you sure you have enough protechint to last that long out here?" Karr-Fi: "Positive." Turning around the hovercraft to face the direction they came from, Tech One: "See you in a few hours." The hovercraft speeds out of sight and Karr-Fi turns away from the sight before it's completed. The camera moves further in on Karr-Fi and now we can see at this view close up, his skin is losing its moisture. Karr-Fi winces and looks to the bright sky overhead. Cut to: ext: Micro-Par Stream: The Defense Directorate shuttle looking like a vertical-lined raisin shoots forward. V.O. Buck: "By at least the third time you'll be used to the effects of the space distortion." Cut to: int: Shuttle: Hawk and Koori have their eyes closed to the distorted view of reality that surrounds them all in the same way we last saw it back in Episode 30 in the A.M. Mars One. Hawk (paced): "Maybe for Humans, Buck, but I don't think Tangata manu were ever meant to fly this way." Buck: "Sorry, why didn't you ever tell me, Hawk?" Buck turns to the Tangata manu for answering his question. Hawk slightly opens one eye as to tell Buck without words "his pride". Reality, undistorted space snaps back into existence. Buck is caught by surprise by this and both Hawk and Koori look relieved when opening their eyes this has happened. Buck, turning his attention to the ship's controls and the front window to peer at the space outside: "We dropped out too early and not through another Star-Port. I'm going to make a transmission to Star-Port One to find out -." But Buck is caught off by... V.O. Operator: "Sorry, Captain but the Transportation Directorate is enforcing this down time to check out sensor instruments. Your shuttle should be back on course through the micro-par stream in an hour or so." Falling back in his chair, Buck gives a "huff" looking out the window. Hawk: "Any idea which solar system or galaxy we're in?" Buck re-examines the view of space and catches sight of, Buck: "Maihgo?" Hawk: "Isn't that where De-Pas and his family are from?" Buck: "Ya, but we're no where close to Star-Port Eight." Cont. (with dry shock): "That planet shouldn't be there." Hawk and Koori move to the front of the shuttle slowly so they can take in the view as well. Koori: "How can a whole planet not be where it should, that makes no sense." Cut to: ext: Desert: Karr-Fi has lost all his skin moisture now; wrinkled up, he's still staring off into the sky. Cut to: int: shuttle: Buck: "It [ beat ] could be another planet that looks exactly like it [ beat ] from space." Koori: "We could go down to it to investigate its terrain." Buck: "Not unless we'd have good reason to, Star-Port One never did say when exactly the stream would be up again." Suddenly through the window the whole planet begins to glow whiter by the second until it resembles a star, fuzzed in light on its rim. Our trio shield their eyes at the sight. Hawk: "What's going on!" And just as suddenly the planet is gone. Then in a flash of white light and the planet returns. The camera cuts on to the shocked trio, staring wide-eyed out the front window. Hawk: "That was strange." Buck: "I think that might be worth investigating." Koori: "I'm not sure I still want to." Buck to Koori: "Afraid?" Cut to: ext: City Street: It's dirty and shows it's had better times; the sky is still clouded with thick brown pollution. Karr-Fi is walking through a massive crowd; some cough and look ill. Not looking too interested in anything going on around him he shows no signs of illness or dry skin. Some in the crowd are mutants, disfigured. After a beat of watching this... A mutant rushes on Karr-Fi; she has a small arm coming out from one side of her head and is missing the right arm on her torso, she nearly knocks him down. Karr-Fi: "Get off me, I can't help you now!" Mutant, with a show of heated desperation: "You're the scientist, the one discovering how our genes might be used to help us! I saw you on the TV news the other night! I need the cure NOW!" Karr-Fi: "I told you, I CAN'T help you now." Then Karr-Fi pushes the mutant off him, who then at the loss of contact just stares at him in shock as the other Humdoses walk away. Cont (to himself): "What I did here today never helped anyone." The roar of the Defense Directorate shuttle engines sound in the background and for the first time ever Karr-Fi's interest seems to be caught as he looks for the source of the sound. He catches sight of the shuttle landing on a nearby rooftop. The camera cuts in close on Karr-Fi's face showing a look of wonder. Karr-Fi (softy): "That has never happened before." End of Act One: Beginning of Act Two: ext: Rooftop: With the camera hanging overhead we watch Buck followed by Hawk and Koori leave the Defense Directorate shuttle sitting on the rooftop. Our trio look around at their surroundings. Hawk: "This isn't the planet Ge-Ja described to me once." Buck: "Maybe it's just the end of town nobody want to talk about." Hawk: "Buck?" Buck to Hawk, as he's moving to the edge of the rooftop: "Not a spot marked for tourists like us." Looking over the edge of the building, Cont: "Those don't look like Humdos [ beat ] beat or any breed of Candos, what the hell are those?" Koori: "Do they look dangerous?" Buck: "No, but there's only one way to find out what they are." Buck heads off for a door that leads to the interior of the building. Koori to Hawk: "Is he always like this?" Hawk taking Buck's lead: "For as long as I've known him." Cut to: ext: City Street / Building entrance: As our trio are leaving the building that is supporting the shuttle on its rooftop, looking about at the scenery, Karr-Fi is peering at them almost out of their sight. Hawk: "The Ner-Ta Province?" Buck: "That's in the northern continent, this place is over six thousand miles south of that." Karr-Fi comes into full sight of our trio, Karr-Fi: "What species are you, Candos?" Buck, smiling: "Never thought I'd be mistaken for a Candos?" Karr-Fi after a beat: "Jenka?" Buck looking to Hawk and Koori for an answer if they know one: "Never heard of that species?" Karr-Fi goes up to Buck then Koori, then Hawk to closely examine them all. Karr-Fi: "Your eyes don't look it, now I see that but you also don't look like any mutants I've ever seen." Buck: "Can I ask you a question?" Karr-Fi: "What do you want to know?" Buck: "We've never encountered your species before, I thought Maihgo only had two dominant species." Karr-Fi: "I'm Humdos." Buck: "Are you sure?" Karr-Fi curious cocks his head in wonder at Buck's last comment. Cut to: ext: The Circle Building: This is the same building we last saw in the teaser. V.O. Tech Three: "Poor souls." Karr-Fi is hurrying our trio down a hallway as Tech Three looks on at them and a few other techs and scientists taking notice of the group in their passing. Karr-Fi to Tech Three: "If mutants like these beings become more common there might be no hope for us." Buck: "Well that wasn't a very nice thing to say." Karr-Fi: "In my office," as Karr-Fi opens a door and tries to shove our trio through its entrance and they go. Cut to: int: Office: As this scene begins Karr-Fi is closing the door with Buck, Hawk and Koori looking at him in wonder as to what is going on in their predicament. Karr-Fi turning to them, Cont: "This is one of the few places I've found I can have privacy." Buck: "Then please explain here because on the street you acted like it would have been a sin." Karr-Fi: "First what do you know of this planet?" Buck: "It's where some of my oldest friends in this century come from. Candos of numerous breeds, the Candos: a species, you're "Humdos?" -." Buck still does look too sure if that's the right name to use on Karr-Fi. Karr-Fi: "I've told you I am Humdos." Buck: "Right." Then after a beat, Cont: "Who Humdos have been mistreating for thousands of years -." Karr-Fi (in horrified shock): "Thousands of years?!" Buck just looks at Karr-Fi oddly. Karr-Fi, catching himself: "Continue." Buck: "The Humdos claim they are genetic perfection and in toying with the genetics of the Candos to serve their needs, they have created seventeen breeds of them. The lands are divided into provinces and the main currency used in most provinces is called enes. The Humdos avoid -." Karr-Fi: "The forested lands." Hawk: "Now will you explain this world and what you claim to be?" Karr-Fi slowly taking a seat behind his desk, Karr-Fi: "Thousands of years I wish they'd just die." Koori: "Who?" Karr-Fi: "The Jenka, the ones who made this world and made me, this hellish eternity that has been my existence for far far too long as you've just given me an idea of how much time has passed." Buck: "Gods?" Karr-Fi: "I don't know, but if they are gods they have never heard my pleas for mercy. They have judged me guilty of a crime I directly took no part in." Karr-Fi closes his hands over his head which he lays on the desk. Cont: "No answer will ever please them for what I have done." Hawk: "But you said you committed no crime." Karr-Fi: "I discovered how my species could be saved from extinction and through the Jenka, they have told me what my acts lead to: the enslavery of the Candos, changing who they are!" Karr-Fi looks at Hawk, Cont: "Your friend said it, they have been mistreated by my kind and their identity is one that has been forced upon them." Buck: "How is 'er was, um you know, your species met near extinction?" Karr-Fi: "Didn't you get a good look at the world around you when you saw the world outside this place?!" He says throwing his arms outwards. Cont: "We've polluted our own environment to the point were we're afraid to dip into its waters which are meant to give us life! We are an amphibians, our skin absorbs water to keep us healthy! Our young who must live entirely in the water as infants, they become poisoned with it and it changes their development! It has been turning them into mutants that most don't even get to leave their watery homes, they die after only a few hours of life!" Karr-Fi gets up from the desk and begins to pace back and forth quickly. Cont: "Some mutations however have proved useful and - and I had been, have been researching how they might be recreated to provide an immunity to the polluted waters!" Grabbing Buck by his shirt collar, Cont: "That's why you've heard Humdos call themselves genetic perfection! The Humdos in the modern age that surround the space beyond this world are the result of the genetic manipulation practices I developed here!" Hawk brushes Karr-Fi off Buck, Hawk: "You have never enslaved a Candos?" Karr-Fi: "I've never met one, I don't even know what they look like!" Looking at them all, Cont: "What species are you?" Buck pointing to Hawk and Koori: "They're Tangata manu." Pointing to himself, Cont: "I'm Human, we come from a planet named Earth." Karr-Fi: "HOW do YOU judge what I have done?" Buck: "I'm not the one you should be asking that." Tech One bursts through the door, Tech One not noticing the trio: "Karr, you're needed in the lab, it's urgent!" Karr-Fi (softy): "It always has been." Looking to the trio as he leaves, Cont: "Maybe this time you'll make a difference in it." Koori: "Now what does he mean by that?" Tech One now notices the trio, Tech One: "Amazing that you can even breathe, the mutations you've suffered have been kind to you [ beat ] in that sense." Tech One's ending to the line has forced withdraw from the sadness he feels for them, thinking they're Humdos. Cut to: int: Lab: Tech Two is already here and just as Karr-Fi enters the room he looks around expectantly for anything of interest and three other Humdos. Not finding anything, with disappointment Karr-Fi takes his seat at his station in front of the computer. Noticing Karr-Fi, Tech Two: "Five years worth of data, Karr-Fi where were you! The results need your interruption, you're the only one who understands how to redesign the mathematics so we can see them!" Karr-Fi tapping his fingers across the keyboard before him: "Maybe I should teach you how to redesign the mathematics." Tech Two quickly walks over to Karr-Fi's station, Tech Two: "After today that might not matter." The computer screen blanks out. Tech Two: "No!" Tech One enters the room and Tech Two notices this, Tech One: "I'm not getting any output readings on this monitor." Tech Two walking over: "Did Karr redesign the mathematics correctly?" Tech One looking at Karr closely: "I think so unless what was preoccupying him a short while ago has compromised his judgment." Karr-Fi: "Not in the least." Tech Two goes to Tech One's station and after a beat of looking at Tech One's computer screen, Tech Two: "The network connection must have disappeared again, Naly those input jacks." Tech One leaving his station: "I'll fix it." End of Act Two: Beginning of Act Three: int: Lab: Buck followed by the Hawk and Koori enter the scene just as Tech One dives into the pool to fix the output wires. Buck to Karr-Fi: "Is there anything we can do here to help, the urgent situation, is that what caused the planet to disappear, does it have any connection to these Jenka you speak of?" The other Humdos in the room look at our trio but Karr-Fi doesn't care to turn. Karr-Fi: "Judge these actions with the world you see around you and find nothing can or will save what is." Hawk: "What is that supposed to mean?" Tech Three gets up from her station in the lab: "What are you doing here? You have no say in this." Buck turning to Tech Three: "No say in what? The end of the world?" Pointing towards Karr-Fi, Cont: "Punishment that by far isn't just?" Tech Three: "His punishment will end when he finds an answer to how to undo his crime! This world is not real and therefore does not matter!" Hawk: "He asked for judgment from us and where I am from my word is the law." Tech Three: "And my species is the law." Hawk: "Humdos have no more say in actions on a galactic scale than Tangata manu do. His actions are purely of consequence to this world alone." Karr-Fi: "Ve-Han isn't Humdos, he is Jenka and their word [ beat ] as far as they're concerned is law." Tech One emerges from the pool containing the Computer Interface Grid, releasing the air left from four filled sacks. Hawk directing this statement towards Tech One: "Is that one Jenka?" Karr-Fi: "The results are up now." Hawk: "What?" Tech Two goes over to Karr-Fi's station and takes on a wide smile at seeing the computer screen. Tech Two: "Come here take a look at this! This is it! The results from the controlled contamination tests! It worked!" Tech One goes over to Karr-Fi's station. Tech One shaking Karr-Fi's shoulder in excitement: "Karr aren't you excited! The mutations can be controlled to achieve health welding results!" And also at the same time, Karr-Fi: "Mer-To isn't Jenka but one other lab technician here is." Jie-Qa looks over at our trio with only a little look of interest in his eyes and after a beat, Jie-Qa: "None of you are part of our plan here, I suggest you leave here now." Buck toward Jie-Qa: "You're the other Jenka." Tech Two: "What's going on here?" Hawk: "Interference." Tech One shakes Karr-Fi's shoulder again: "Did I miss something while I was reconnecting the output wires? What is a "Jenka" and why aren't you excited, Karr? You've saved all of us." Hawk goes over to Jie-Qa and looking him square in the eye: "What have you been doing here?" Jie-Qa: "On the one hand Karr-Fi saved his entire species from self annihilation. On the other hand it was his deliverance that helped to enslave this planet's second dominant species the Candos." Looking like he is about to put real thought into this statement. Cont: "If he can save his people without destroying the lives of millions of others not of his kind then we'll end his life as he's requested of us more than once and destroy this mock-planet as well." Hawk: "You are not a god." Jie-Qa: "No, but we're as close as it gets on this plane." Karr-Fi gets up from his station and walks over to Buck and Koori. Karr-Fi: "I have changed the outcome of this a hundred times over and no matter what path I've taken to ensure both species live in harmony with each other it hasn't satisfied you." Ve-Han: "But your attempts did nothing to prevent your species annihilation." In anger, Karr-Fi looks ready to cry. Buck: "Karr said that the Humdos are destroying themselves through pollution. If you're so powerful and you believe only he can save this planet's species then why don't you send Karr back through time to when the Humdos started polluting this planet so he can prevent these actions from ever having taken place?" Ve-Han: "As Costh said we're close to gods but not. We cannot time travel." Koori: "I thought his name was Jie-Qa?" Jie-Qa: "Costh is my true name, [ beat ] it would not fit into normal use on this planet if it were used openly." Hawk: "Then why not recreate this world at the time it began to become polluted and find an answer there, er, then?" Ve-Han: "Because only Karr-Fi has the answer that will end this all." Buck: "If no answer he provides proves what you believe of him then how can you be so sure?" Ve-Han: "Because he -." Karr-Fi heading towards the door: "I'm tired of this setting, there's a cafe that serves Cav-Tea hot at 4:36 pm, always has on this day. All of you, if you'll join me?" Cut to: int: Hallway: Karr-Fi is in a fast walk as Ve-Han, Costh, Buck, Hawk and Koori try to catch up with him. Buck: "Don't you want this resolved?" Karr-Fi: "I do want this resolved but I've spent far too much of my life in that lab. A few thousand years as you've just brought me up to date on that fact. I don't intend on meeting my demise in it along with this world." Koori: "What haven't you done to provide the answer to these Jenka?" Karr-Fi: "Spoken to those my kind should have never met." Our trio look to each other in confusion. Cut to: ext: Cafe: The camera drops down over and past a sign that says on it "Cafe Rio-Ge-Tay" then on to the group. Karr-Fi is sipping tea while Ve-Han, Costh, Buck, Hawk and Koori watch. Buck: "The Candos aren't bad people, Karr-Fi, there's nothing wrong with meeting them." Karr-Fi: "It's the Humdos coming in contact with their kind that sparks the hostile relationship that dooms them." Buck: "What if the Candos have a way to save your species without use of genetic manipulation?" Karr-Fi looks at Buck with a shock to tell us he'd never thought of that possibility. Cut to: ext: Candos Village: It doesn't look like a village or town, nothing is visible above ground but the trees with their writings. Buck, Karr-Fi, Costh, Hawk and Koori are moving away from the hovercraft we first saw in Act One, walking through the forest clearing. Karr-Fi: "I always through they'd be here, I never thought I could be wrong about something for so long." Buck: "Trust me, they're here. They live underground, that's how some of them escaped enslavement long ago." Koori: "Those trees stripped of all their limbs but their smallest, [ beat ] I wonder why they did that." Buck: "They're books but if you want to see what's written on them it might give you a headache from beyond this plane." Costh: "Why did you involve yourself in our affairs, Rogers. This Humdos should not mean anything to you." Buck: "So you're mind readers too." Costh: "Jenka are not mind readers." Buck: "I never said my last name." Costh: "How I know your last name does not matter to you." Buck: "That's a funny way of stating things [ beat ] if you know the number of my ID code for the population database, then that means -." Suddenly the camera focuses in a swift turn to one side. A wild Candos is watching them. Hawk: "It looks nothing like the others I've seen unless -." Buck: "He's a Candos, just not a multiplied one." Karr-Fi (whispering) to Buck: "Does it speak our language?" Buck: "No, and I don't know a word of it. That could be a problem." Karr-Fi: "You think?" Buck with a look of revelation on his face: "But you could learn it." Karr-Fi: "How? This world and I don't have much time left, I can't learn a whole language in the span of a few hours." Buck: "You have an eternity to do it, Karr-Fi." Costh: "That will not pardon him of his crime." Hawk to Costh glaring: "I've had it with you, you are as much the law here as I am. What's past is past and if you say nothing can be done to right what has happened, then your punishment to this poor alien has no reason." Costh: "My species plays a far greater role in this universe than yours will ever, bird-man. When we create worlds and populate them with re-created life forms we do it for many reasons but the reason which makes us useful is discovering ways errors can be prevented. Errors and injustices that many pay a price for." Hawk: "Then let Karr-Fi learn their language." Costh: "That would serve no purpose." Buck: "Unless the use it wasn't applied. [ beat ] Costh, if Karr-Fi can learn to speak with the Candos they could work together to find an answer to your age old question." Hawk: "Does the world have to end in the next few hours, Costh?" Costh: "Only if he makes no mistakes, which he always has. What in your plan prevents the Candos from becoming enslaved?" Buck (excited) and smiling broadly: "I have an idea." Buck takes Karr-Fi aside and begins speaking to him in a hushed tone we can't hear. Costh: "Considering this affair concerns the fate of a whole world you might want to share your idea with the rest of us, Rogers." Buck turns towards Costh grinning with the idea of his plan in mind. End of Act Three: Beginning of Act Four: ext: Space: As this scene takes place we watch the Defense Directorate shuttle speed off into space away from the copy of Maihgo. V.O. Koori: "Even with that plan of yours put into action by Karr, are you sure it stands a chance of really working?" Cut to: int: Shuttle: Buck is at the controls as Hawk and Koori sit in passenger seats. Pushing a button now and taking his hands off the steering bars to look back at Koori, Buck: "It will take time, but hopefully not as much as we all fear for Karr-Fi's shake." The camera cuts to being in front of Buck so we can see the window at the bow of the spacecraft. Cont: "None of the Humdos besides him will ever be none the wiser anything different was ever meant to take place otherwise." From outside the window we see wisping light begin to surround the ship in pastel rainbow colors. Hawk: "I'd still like to give that alien a piece of my mind." Buck: "Hawk, that isn't like you." The pastel rainbow colored light has now taken away our entire vision of space from out the window. Hawk: "An affair can only be judged by those who truly understand its meaning and morals. These Jenka claim to understand what can be brought out in each and every one of us but they cannot answer questions they pose to others in their judgment. They have no right to what they claim." Reality begins to distort in that odd manner that only the effect of the micro-par's stream can bring about. Buck: "True, but there's really nothing we can do about that so we'll just have to except facts for the time being." Koori: "Do you think the true Maihgo will ever find the peace the Jenka wanted Karr-Fi to provide for it, Buck?" Reality has now become fully distorted by the stream's effect. Buck: "I think that might be an even longer road than the one Karr has just taken. But I believe with time it will happen." The screen flashes to white. Then from a sudden pitch black... Cut to: ext: Candos Village: A group of seven Candos have Karr-Fi surrounded. They look puzzled by Karr-Fi being there but he looks at them with confidence. Pointing towards himself, Karr-Fi: "My name is Karr-Fi and I will never be your enemy." The Candos look among themselves then one moves in on Karr-Fi. And speaking in their alien tongue: "Gah lo furi?" Karr-Fi: "Do you have any idea what I just said?" Candos One (the one who spoke a moment ago): "Gah lo furi?" Karr-Fi (with wonder): "What does that mean?" Candos One touches Karr-Fi. Karr-Fi: "Yes that is who I am." The screen cuts to black. Cut to: int: Lab: Karr-Fi enters the lab with Candos One who is looking around at everything with extreme interest. Four other Humdos are in this room but as we learned in Act Three, two of them aren't what they appear. Ve-Han: "This is quite an experiment you're attempting here, Karr." Karr-Fi: "In the final end it sounds like it should work." Karr-Fi directs Candos One over to his work station: "This is my computer station and I am going to teach you how to operate it." Candos One: "This will help both our kinds?" Karr-Fi: "It will ensure survival for both of us as we ultimately should be." Candos One pointing at the keyboard: "What does that do?" The screen cuts to black. Cut to: int: Lab: Lead by Candos One, Karr-Fi enters the scene and Tech One is running after them. Tech One: "Are you sure it can help!? It's covered in fur; I've never seen a mutation like it!" Going over to Karr-Fi's station with Candos One still in the lead, Karr-Fi: "It's no mutation, it's a Candos, a fellow native species of this planet and he knows the issues we're addressing here better than we do." Candos One looks at the blank computer screen then turns to Tech Two. Candos One: "I think two of the input jacks have been disconnected. [ beat ] I don't have the lungs to dive down into the Computer Interface Grid, could you do it?" Tech Two takes in the air needed and puffs up his air sacks, then dives into the pool. Tech One: "But Karr, you've been working on this study for five years, how could this Candos know these issues better than you or I do." Karr-Fi: "I've been working with Der-Cin longer than five years, he induced me to some of the ideas I put forth in this research." Tech One (in awe): "A smarter species than us and they're almost unknown to us." Tech Two emerges from the pool and deflates the remaining puffed air sacks. Tech Two goes over to Karr-Fi's station and takes on a wide smile at seeing the computer screen. Tech Two: "Come here take a look at this! This is it! The results from the controlled contamination tests! It worked!" Tech One goes over to Karr-Fi's station. Tech One taking on a wide smile: "The mutations can be controlled to achieve health welding results!" Both Techs shake Karr-Fi in excitement to give a show of congratulations. Tech Two: "Your tests have saved us from extinction, Karr-Fi! You've paved a path for us to control making variations in our genes for life saving results!" Karr-Fi: "Don't thank me, it was the genius of Der-Cin, this Candos that has saved us." The camera cuts in close on Karr-Fi who's now smiling to himself, Cont: "Remember that." The screen cuts to black and holds on that for a beat before... End Of Act Four. The End. Roll Credits.
